When you add notes, it should be added in the messages thread rather than on the side where it can be easily missed... similar to edesk as shown... first picture showing you can have the option to add a note instead of a reply, and the second picture showing how the note that was added appears in the ticket... and the third picture showing how the note left is the most recent preview text (which helps when searching for a note that you left on a ticket)

I also agree that Notes need work. They should probably be inline with the messages or made much more visible. Currently it is too easy to miss important internal messages, and timelines are not clear. Maybe having notes inline, as per above suggestion, but with a filter toggle that would show only internal messages? This would help isolate notes when scattered amongst long ticket threads.
